Managing Markets During the Summer Months

June 11, 2026

Summer has a way of reminding us to slow down and enjoy what we've worked so hard to build.

School is out, vacations are planned, and calendars often feel a little less hectic. It's a season that reminds us why financial planning matters in the first place: creating the freedom to spend time with the people and experiences that matter most.

Of course, while many of us are taking a break, the markets are not. Headlines about interest rates, inflation, trade policy, geopolitics, and the upcoming election will continue to create uncertainty and, at times, market volatility.

But that's nothing new.

There's an old saying on Wall Street: stocks climb a wall of worry. Markets are always concerned about something. That's why a sound financial strategy isn't built for perfect conditions. It's built with the expectation that periods of uncertainty and volatility will occur.

So enjoy the beach trips, barbecues, and long summer evenings. The markets will still be there in September, October, and November. Staying focused on your long-term goals is often more important than reacting to short-term headlines.

The S&P 500 Composite Index is an unmanaged index that is considered representative of the overall U.S. stock market. Index performance is not indicative of the past performance of a particular investment. Past performance does not guarantee future results. Individuals cannot invest directly in an index. The return and principal value of stock prices will fluctuate as market conditions change. And shares, when sold, may be worth more or less than their original cost.
